Free Haircuts, Lemonade Stand, Teachers, and Smoothies...

A friend told me that we could go and get free haircuts during the whole month of August so away we went.
I just took the girls:
  After the cut:
We went and bought new school shoes too- it was a fun girl date.

On Saturday I took Jane and Bruce with me to do some service at the Bishop's Storehouse.  When we got home there was mail for them on the counter.  The letters told them who their teachers are.  We are VERY happy to have the teachers we have.  Jane was on the phone for a long time finding out what teachers they had- there are about 6 of her close friends in her class so it should be a wonderful year!

In the afternoon the kids asked if they could have a lemonade stand.  We only have 10 days left until school starts so I said "yes."

They made signs, made lemonade, and sat in the sun for about an hour.
 Thanks everyone who stopped by!

Jane and her friend Amelia:

Today Kate was looking through a recipe book and asked if we could make this smoothie- so we did:

Blackberry Picking..

Last Thursday we went to U-Pick farm nearby to pick some delicious blackberries.

There was a little barn with goats, donkeys, chickens, and rabbits.  The kids all had fun looking at them and petting them:

 Back to berry picking:
They found this nice cat and that made them pretty happy too.
This week we're going to pick raspberries.  If anyone wants to come, let me know :)

Our Week With Thomas

My nephew Thomas came to see us a for a week.  He flew in the day after we got back from Utah.  We had such a great time while he was here.  Here are a few things we did:
We went to the science museum to the "Grossology" display.   We met B for dinner at the Original Anchor Bar for some delicious wings:

We told Thomas that we would trade him Dunkin Doughnuts for Cafe Rio.  He said "throw in Anchor Bar and it's a deal."  Hmmm, have to think about that one.
On Thursday we went to this awesome Navy Park.  It was really cool to tour the ships and submarine.
Thomas on deck:
 Kate coming up:
On Friday we walked to Canada.  We took Thomas to visit Niagara Falls.  Here are the kids and "American Falls."
Here they are at  "Horseshoe Falls."  It was a very long walk to the brink, but we made it & got ice cream to help us on the way back.
When we got home Thomas made us dinner- Tomato Ravioli.  It was really good!
He also made cookies with Kate:
On Saturday he helped Brad build Bruce's new bed.  It's a loft bed with a chain on the 4th corner.  It's great and gives the boys a lot more space to play.
Later that afternoon it was a little overcast so we went to play mini-golf.
Dinner was at Ted's hot dogs.  Here's thinking of you Stu.
On Sunday we went to church, played LOTS and LOTS of board games and the kids made this giant cupcake with all sorts on things on top:
Monday was the last full day that Thomas was here so we took him to Palmyra.  We went to the visitor's center:
We climbed up the Hill Cumorah, drove around the temple, toured the Smith home, and here are Jane and Thomas at the entrance to the Sacred Grove:
We also toured the Book of Mormon press building and walked along the Erie Canal.
THANKS FOR COMING TO VISIT THOMAS!!!

We've been on vacation!

Hello All!
This summer we took 4 weeks to go out west to spend time with our families.
612 pictures later I find myself way behind on the blogging and need to catch up, it may take a bit.
We're happy to be home and here are a few things we did last week:
Some super cute friends invited us to Crystal Beach, Canada and we had a perfect day:
Bruce and his sand castle:
 Kate in the sandbar:
On Wednesday we had an activity at church that was really great and for refreshments we made floats.  I love this sign:
We also had another week of swim lessons, but now we're done :)

 More to come soon....
