Airplanes, chocolate chips, and my wall...

Last week James and I went with our playgroup to the airport to watch the planes take off and land.He had SOOO much fun.
We even got to see this firetruck spray water:
Yesterday Kate opened a bag of chocolate chips and then a few moments later I found this guy:(don't mind the scissors...)
My very talented friend Amy came over to help me hang things on my kitchen walls yesterday. One of them looks like this:
These dishes were B's grandmothers (she loved blue and white dishes) and have been on our closet for 10 years. I love how they look. Thanks Amy!

Playing and More Peaches...

We had such BEAUTIFUL weather today (it's still summer until Friday.) We walked to school to pick up the kids then stayed and played for a while.Jane and Bruce were racing to run up the slide:

Last Friday James, Kate, and I went with some friends to pick more peaches.(we love our little friend)
I LOVE this one of Kate.
Everyone is having a great time at school. James and I have been able to go running most every morning, and then I run around doing lots of other things for the rest of the day.
Last Sunday we had some friends over and ate this- yum!
Tonight was Open House for Bruce's class, Activity Days for Jane, Brad usually has scouts-but not tonight, Kate recited the Pledge of Allegiance for all of us, and James likes to jump.

1st Day of School!

Oh it was a sad morning for me- really it was I cried. I miss these cuties:

Kate is only gone in the mornings

James walked around the house looking for all of them. He also took the best nap that he has taken in months with a quiet house :)

It's all about the new shoes:
Kate's are the "Twinkle Toes" that light up.

1st Bus Ride of the new school year!

4,3,2,1

On Friday we had lots of fun playdates and even got to go swimming (it was hot! ) That evening we went to this great place and got to run around and use all of the fun climbing and tumbling equipment.

Bruce was happy he found the floor in the sponge pit:

Saturday morning we cleaned the house, Bruce wrote numbers 1-200, we had a few friends come and play, Kate had a birthday party, I froze some peaches, and then we went to an end of Summer BBQ with wonderful friends (thanks Carolyn!). After that deliciousness we went to pick up B from the airport! We're so glad he's home.

Sunday~ we went to church and then later some friends had us over for some very delicious peach cobbler - Thanks Megan!
Monday (Labor Day)- we headed to the beach! There was a pretty constant breeze, but the water was warm: We had lots of fun with our friends there!

We also went to this great Nature CenterThen went and got 5 Guys for dinner and headed back home.
Now it's the night before school. Backpacks are ready, clothes are laid out (you'll see their cool shoes tomorrow,) and I'll get my camera and tissues ready.

7, 6, 5

On Tuesday - We went to the ZOO! James loved the sea lion show:He also still loved the tigers:Look at the silly gorillas: (Brad this is not an evolution comment)

When we got home Jane and Bruce ran to the mailbox to see if their teacher letters had come- they did!
Bruce has the same teacher that Jane did and Jane has a really nice teacher- but even better is she already know of 6 friends who will be in her class.
Wednesday- In the morning we hosted playgroup at our home and washed cars. Kate took of picture of these delicious treats :)
Then we played with some friends and after they left we went to the library to turn in our summer reading sheets. We took the Elders out to dinner at a yummy pizza place (Jane brought KABAM.) Then rushed Jane to a party and the kids and I went to the church for a sensational salsa recipe demonstration.

Thursday- Today we went to the Strong Museum of Play. We LOVE this place and always have a fun time. James especially had a great time because he would walk around everywhere and touch everything. Unfortunately I FORGOT MY CAMERA!!! We did go to the new exhibit on Japan and that was really cool (we thought of you Hiromi.)

Tofu Shop

  • Try on traditional Japanese fashions in Sakiko’s Bedroom
  • Experiment with calligraphy in Ken’s Tatami Room
  • Learn about Japanese foods in Aisa’s Kitchen and Tofu Shop
  • Practice aikido—a Japanese martial art—in Yusuke’s Yard
  • Listen to music in Shoko’s Living Room
  • Enjoy Japanese crafts, toys, games, and manga at an Interactive Play Station
  • View a display of objects from The Strong’s collections showing the impact of Japanese culture on American play

The recent disasters in Japan have severely affected the lives of all Japanese, old and young. The Strong invites visitors to the Five Friends from Japan exhibit to compose messages of support and sympathy that The Strong will send to the City of Rochester’s sister city of Hamamatsu, Japan. Those interested in supporting the relief effort financially can contribute at http://american.redcross.org.

After the museum we went to my friend Katie's home and got to see and hold her new (4 days old) baby girl. She is beautiful! Our kids are just the same ages and so everyone had a buddy to play with today. Now for #5... (this isn't an announcement)

Tomorrow the long weekend starts and lots of more fun times ahead!
