5K and Strep

Saturday morning was so beautiful! The weather was perfect and the race ran right along side of Niagara Falls. I ran with my wonderful amazing friend and we ran the whole time! 3 other amazing women in the ward ran it too. Here with some of our biggest fans!
(Thank you Amy for the picture)
I know-I look so beautiful after running 5K- NOT!
After the race we went to the beach and flew kites. Then we went to the Toyota dealership to talk about B's new truck, then we had a relaxing date at home.

This morning I woke up and my throat was totally swollen. It hurt a TON to swallow and I couldn't talk. It hurt just to touch my neck. I made a doctor's appointment and turns out that I have STREP! I haven't had strep since I was like 10. It hurts!
So I got my medicine, took a nap, and feel a lot better already.
THANK YOU MY LOVE FOR STAYING HOME FROM WORK TO TAKE SUCH GREAT CARE OF ALL OF US!
(I especially think he liked taking Bruce to library story time.)

Happy Brithday MOM!

My sister already wrote a totally cute thing for our mom
but I also wanted to BLOG wish her happy birthday.
She is the most kind, patient, fun, and loving woman I know. I LOVE her and wish I had more pictures, but her she is with each of the cute babies.)

Afternoon Fun

Yesterday afternoon we were trying to decide what to do.
Jane and Bruce played in the sprinklers after lunch, but then Jane said she wanted to go to the mall and Bruce said he wanted to go to the park.
Instead we ...
I'm not sure how it all came about. I think Jane said, "Mom can you make me into a mummy?" Then Bruce wanted to be one too. It was really funny to try and wrap them up while they are so wiggly. They had a blast "chasing" Kate and I- they couldn't move very fast." So if you're ever wondering what to do, grab some toilet paper and have fun!
Here's baby Cakes in her "stimming suit."

Stitches...

Oh I love my husband and hope he doesn't get mad for me posting this...
Last Saturday we were going to go to a nature preserve clean up in celebration of Earth Day. We didn't make it because my love of my life ended up getting stitches.
Story: That morning we went to a friends house who was having a yard sale. As B was putting our treasures into the trunk and putting the bungee thing down, it whipped up and cut him by his collar bone. He's VERY tough and didn't think much of it, but after all my pleading decided to go have it looked at and ended up getting stitches.
On another note: his truck~ Last week he was so sad because he found out that the frame of his truck was totally rusted. He also learned about a recall on Toyota trucks and took it in to the service station. Turns out they took the truck and we ended up getting almost double what we payed for it back! Yeah! Now we're looking at new trucks for him and we'll keep you posted.
Picture of the day~ taken 4 years ago.~ we're so cute!

Oreo's, Skittles, and Kites

Here are 3 things that have helped make our beautiful week even happier!
(Note the super cute flamingo outfit for Grandma D.)
We have had such wonderful warm 70 degree weather all week and have gone to the park everyday. One time when we were coming back home baby Kate got a little tired so Jane gave her an Oreo. That made her really happy.Happy Hands
The next day I knew Kate was downstairs but I hadn't heard her for a while. When I went to check on her I found this: Her daddy left some Skittles our for her from the night before- yum!
(the carpet did come clean)
We went and flew kites last Tuesday night.
There was a perfect wind and the kids really loved trying out their new kites. (Bruce is on the playground in the background)
We think everyone should fly kites~ so FUN!

Three things this week

Sorry for the delay, here are 3 things we've done this week:

1. We went to a party with some of Jane's preschool friends and we brought these fun pudding flower pots for dessert. (It's pudding topped with Oreo crumbs, a gummy worm, and a flower on the spoon- don't you love my cutter thing Jo?)

2. We have more furniture!
Now you can come sit in our living room. We picked up the couch and love seat on Saturday with the truck (which we may not have as of Wednesday- I'll keep you posted.)

3. We went to the Strong Museum of Play with some GREAT friends yesterday.
Bruce had a really fun time in this "sandbox." We are loving the beautiful Spring weather we are experiencing and I am loving being able to run outside again. (Yesterday I registered for a 5K in 2 weeks! Ahh! I'm going to run 1 every month this spring/summer.)
* * * LOTS OF HUGS TO OUR NIECE KAREN- GOOD LUCK- WE LOVE YOU * * *

Fire station Fun!

Today we went with our fun playgroup to the local fire station.
It was so great! They were all very kind and informative. They let the kids (and there were a lot of us,) sit in 3 of the big trucks, open things, and they turned on the lights. Bruce loved it and was also terrified that he might see fire. We had to keep telling him there was no fire.
He did get a really cool hat too~it's black.
The Fire Department here is 100 % volunteer and they were very accommodating. You should try to see if you can take a tour of your local station too!

So Brave!

Yesterday Jane got her "shots for Kindergarten." She had to get 4 of them and was so brave. Only the last one hurt and she was a little sad after that.
All morning she would tell people, "Today I have to go to the doctor and get shots, but then I get to go pick whatever Pet Shop toy I want." (She picked the octopus- a pet?)
Yes- I think bribes are great.
She also got her hair trimmed- we're so glad she has bangs again!

Do You Want One?

Baby Cakes would love to share a banana cookie with you.
We have LOVED being outside today!
It has been in the upper 50's and sunny- so fun!
My Spring bulbs are starting to come up and that's very exciting too (thanks again Tonya!)

Here's the song that's been going through my head all day. Thanks Jason & fam for sharing it with us- not.

Thanks to my sister for sharing her cool YouTube finds.
Also to Allison for the Elephant portrait video and Chantel for the Evolution of Dance video~ so funny.
