HAPPY HALLOWEEN 08

Happy Halloween everybody!

We are SOOOOO happy that today is finally here.
Jane had a great party at school this morning with her class.
Bruce, Kate, and I went to the library for a Halloween story time.
Tonight we're going to dinner at some friends and then will go around the neighborhood- should be fun!

For Family Night we carved our pumpkins.

We had a great time. Kate helped me eat lots of Halloween M&M's so we could carve ours with a star cookie cutter.

We also went to the first of many Halloween parties this week
Kate is Little Red Riding Hood- lots more costumes to come.
* Last Saturday I ran another 5 K with six other amazing women. Here is our after picture:Did I mention it was cold and rainy the whole time- we were all soaked, I was dying.

Leaves! (and apple pie)

On Friday Bruce and I raked leaves.

When Jane came home from school she jumped in the pile right away.
They had a really fun time playing in them.
Kate liked "Ziggy the Pig" that Jane brought home for the weekend.

Everyday this week Jane has been begging me to make an apple pie.
So on Thursday I finally bought cinnamon and we made one. Jane didn't want to eat it however, just make it. I took it with me to book club that night and everyone enjoyed it- thanks for the great idea Jane.

Star of the Week!

Jane was picked to be STAR OF THE WEEK this week and is sooo happy about it.
She gets to be line leader, help with calendar, and this weekend we made this fun poster together.
We love our Jane.

On Saturday we went to the Praxair Family Day.
It was fun to see all the different things they do there and play, but the best was sitting in the big truck.
We each got to pick a pumpkin- I know, more pumpkins.

Brad won the top raffle prize- an American Red Cross Emergency backpack!
That evening Brad had an Elder's Quorum softball game followed by a chili cook off- fun day.

More Fun Times and Friends

Last Friday we went with friends to the Children's Museum-always so fun!

We wanted to meet up with our friends who live in Rochester,
but they were busy that day so they came to see us on Monday.

We also went to another pumpkin patch, got wet, and bought lots of apples.

Kate had a fun time emptying the bag all over the kitchen- silly kid.

And Finally... Bruce has a new bike. We got it from our neighbor's yard sale for $5. He really LOVES to ride it.

Pumpkin Patch #2

On Thursday Jane didn't have school so we all went to a fun Pumpkin patch.

We went in a corn maze.

We went in a hay maze.

Jane has bangs in her pumpkin picture this year.
We picked out a big orange pumpkin and a white one.

These were some of the fun things to do.
Kate was the one who played in the corn this year.

Tis' the Season...

For PUMPKINS!
We love going to all the different pumpkin places around town.
Bruce, Kate, and I visited a fun one with friends today.
They had lots of pumpkins.

They also had goats.

They also had a maze of hay- and hay to jump on!

Escape...

Last Saturday night I was watching the a recorded session of conference while Brad was at Priesthood session and the kids were in bed, so I thought.

I heard something and turned around to find Baby Kate standing there.

"How did you get out of your crib?" I wondered...

Then I remembered this picture:

Jane at 18 months

Jane used to escape from he crib by kicking our slats and climbing out. I took a happy Kate upstairs and saw that she had done the SAME thing. Bruce never did.So I took a picture, put the slats back in, and put a now sad Kate back in her bed and told her to go to sleep. Silly girls!

"Johnny Peters"

A few weeks ago I went running with some friends and we were talking about "after school snacks." One of them said that they made some no-bake cookies for her family and they loved them. My friend Amy also made them that week and said she felt a little better because they have oatmeal in them and she used organic peanut butter- good job! So I decided I'd make some for Jane. Growing up we called these cookies Johnny Peters- the name of the person who first made them for us.

Here's the recipe:
In a medium saucepan mix
1 stick margarine,
2 cups sugar,
1/2 cup milk,
and 3 T cocoa.
Bring to a boil and boil for a few minutes. Add 1 t vanilla.
Take off heat. Stir in
3/4 cup peanut butter
and 3 cups oatmeal.
Stir and drop by spoonfuls onto Saran Wrap.
(You can also add nuts, raisins, etc... )

Jane loved them!
