Today we went with our fun playgroup to the local fire station.
It was so great! They were all very kind and informative. They let the kids (and there were a lot of us,) sit in 3 of the big trucks, open things, and they turned on the lights. Bruce loved it and was also terrified that he might see fire. We had to keep telling him there was no fire.
He did get a really cool hat too~it's black.

The Fire Department here is 100 % volunteer and they were very accommodating. You should try to see if you can take a tour of your local station too!

Thanks for setting this all up. I think I can speak for all of us and say the kids had a ball! Now I need to take Grant and Monte for a tour.

That looks like so much fun! The primary had an activity this summer at the fire station and Josh loved sitting in the firetrucks too. Glad Bruce liked it! And glad there was no fire.

Isn't fun how all ages enjoy the fire station?! I went there with Ethan's class year and I even enjoyed it. It is so fascinating. What a fun playgroup!

Heya! Great pics... And Brooklyn shares Bruce's terror of fire. We took her to a Japanese grill in Omaha for dinner over Christmas (you know, the kind where they cook the food right in front of you) and she was NOT a fan of the onion volcano...
When I was working on Long Island a few summer's ago, one of the guys on the crew was from Buffalo and was part of the volunteer fire department there. Not only did he have great stories, he also brought a half gallon (literally) jug of hot sauce with him each day to dress his chicken & blue cheese sandwich. Talk about fire in the mouth...
