Oregon July 2010

The Trip (and LOTS of pictures):
On Sunday we left really early and flew on 2 little airplanes to Portland. We were on our way to B's family reunion. We made a stop at the Portland temple and walked around then we drove to Lincoln City. We were first to arrive at the beach house so we put our things inside and walked to the beach. The ocean is SO beautiful!!!
That night the cousins and Grandparents (jump for joy! )
arrived and it was fun to see everyone again. Jill made yummy taco salads for dinner.

Monday we went on a walk on the beach in the morning. Next we drove to a place nearby and went on a hike (cute Henry and the Huge tree)
and played at the playground(so beautiful background)
We came back for lunch, and went back to the beach(Way to go Chris and Andrew on this awesome sand castle)
(B and his dad played horseshoes)
Mom made baked potatoes and a roast for dinner and then we had a Family Home Evening where we were quizzed with pictures and other history of the family.

Tuesday morning we went for a walk on the beach and collected lots of shells and rocks. We ate lunch and then we all drove to Newport to go the the aquarium(I love Otters!)(This was awesome to walk under the sharks)(Grandma and Kate right after she saved her from falling in the tide pool.)
(The boys making sad fish faces)
We also bought taffy- so yummy and soft!
We went back to the beach for a little bit before dinner
(I love this picture)
That night B and I escaped for our anniversary (9 years) and got delicious dessert. Thanks again to grandma for taking the kids. Thanks also Ben & Sarah for the delicious Italian dinner.

Wednesday we went on a walk along the beach again and then ate at a little corner cafe. We got our wedding rings cleaned (a yearly tradition) and went back to the beach house. We ate lunch and went to the beach (Dig!)
(B went swimming the the freezing ocean twice! )
and then that evening I went to watch Sarah,
Jill, and mom blow glass floats. For dinner B grilled a pork tenderloin (which he brined and rubbed- yum) and hot dogs for kids. We ate Smores for dessert.Thursday we woke up early (thanks James) and went to the beach for a scavenger/treasure hunt. Then we went to Mo's for lunch- delicious clam chowder and cheese bread.
Then the kids went with dads back home and the girls went shopping at the outlets!!!
It was great!
We came back with lots of bags and happy faces and ate Mexican thanks to these two:
Plus fruit salad thanks to Andy-We stayed up talking and B played PS2 with his brothers for long into the night.
Friday we ate breakfast, said goodbye to the ocean, goodbye to where we'd wash sand off our feet, goodbye to the beach house, goodbye to cousins and grandpa, and took 2 more little planes back home
(said "hi" to the dinosaur)
arriving at midnight (got to love the 3 hour time change;)
* We are sooo sorry that we didn't have enough time to see all of our friends that live out that way. We will see you next time we're there or you're always welcome to visit us!

B & E

So glad you guys had a great vacation - it looks and sounds like it was positively wonderful. We thought of you as we drove through Buffalo... Hopefully we'll have another opportunity to try and connect soon.

Lots of love from somewhere on the road between Illinois & southern Utah!
